Threads
There are some ways to produce threads in a part: cut taps, form taps, or thread mills, all of these methods are effective. The designer should always choose the largest thread size allowed by the structure cause it will let the manufacturing process easier.
The smaller the tap, the greater the chance that the tap will break during production. And the thread should only produced to the length necessary.
Deeper threaded holes will add the cost of the part because special tool may be required to meet the depth requirements.
Try to use standard thread sizes to save cost.
